Meet Alberto

We hereby wish Alberto de Diego Cottinelli, our brand new Senior Developer, a warm welcome both to Appsolutely and to the Netherlands! This 36-year-old Spaniard flew in from his previous abode Helsinki only last week and has thus had practically no time yet to acclimate. Let’s find out how he ended up in our chilly country!

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

"Of course! I am originally from Andalusia, Spain, where I studied Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Málaga. After obtaining my degree, I stayed at this university for a year to work as a Software Developer, and then decided to move to Finland. There, I worked as a Salesforce Developer at one of the leading Salesforce partners in the Nordics for nine years. A friend of mine, Jesús, whom I have known since he worked in Finland a few years ago, has always recommended Appsolutely to me. So, after deciding to leave Helsinki I applied to join the company. During my time in Finland, I learned to speak some Finnish and my plan is to learn Dutch as well."

Awesome! How was your first day at Appsolutely?

"I expected it would be difficult to get started, but things actually went quite alright. I went to the office and met some of my colleagues - they are all really nice and professional! I am already fully involved in a project, and hopefully I will get up to speed with all the ongoing projects and developments soon enough."

What will be a challenge for you?

"Probably getting used to a new way of working. In my previous job, I focused a lot on customer implementations and internal tools, whereas now my activities are more product-oriented. There are a few differences, but also some similarities. I try to be practical and use my common sense, and I think Appsolutely is a good place to learn and grow."

Why did you choose Appsolutely?

"As it is still a relatively small company, there is a lot of room for growth. I expect to learn and grow together with the company, by carrying out interesting projects and ensuring customer satisfaction. I feel accomplished when I’ve learned something new and when a customer is happy, and I think this willingness to grow and help customers is very present at Appsolutely."

What goals are you aiming for?

"I am an analytical person, who always tries to improve and learn from personal mistakes and successes. I am very happy in my current job, and I want to keep doing it so I can get better. In the end, my potential goal is to become lead developer, but right now I like where I am and I want to continue down this path."

How will you contribute to Appsolutely?

"By bringing a technical point of view with me based on a lot of experience with Salesforce and other technologies. My knowledge can be useful in different projects, so I am very flexible."

What do you like to do in your free time?

"I actually also enjoy technology related stuff outside of the office, like programming. Other hobbies are music - I like to play guitar - and gaming. When I was living in Finland I also enjoyed hiking, as there is so much beautiful nature out there."

Lastly, having lived in Finland and now the Netherlands, do you miss the weather in Spain?!

"Haha, yes! I especially miss the sunlight. The cold in Finland didn’t bother me that much, but the darkness did!"
