When you’ve worked at the same company for more than twenty years, moving to a new job in a new company is quite a big step. But it is a step our brand new Salesforce Consultant Sander van den Berg is more than excited to take! With his broad experience as Business Consultant, Project Lead, Product Owner and Scrum Master, he adds a bulk of knowledge and expertise to the Appsolutely team. Let’s get to know him a little better!
What did you do prior?
For 25 years, I have worked for different Randstad companies in various roles. The last 6,5 years, I have been working as a Salesforce Consultant/Developer in a Salesforce plus Connexys ATS environment. My work has been very focused on HR services, so I look forward to learning more about Salesforce and the way it is used in other lines of businesses. When you work for one company, you only use the (software) products that have been purchased and are at your disposal. By moving to Appsolutely, I get to broaden my horizon and immerse myself in new technology!
Why did you choose Appsolutely?
I was looking for a smaller company with a dynamic atmosphere, where you can really make a difference for your customers instead of being slowed down by bureaucracy and procedures. Over the years I have learned that I function best in small teams and when I have the freedom to handle things the way I think is best. I am under the impression there is a lot of opportunity for this at Appsolutely. Moreover, the conversations I had with my future colleagues were very fun and inspiring. I could sense that the atmosphere is spontaneous, professional and results oriented, which appeals to me.
How would you define yourself personality wise?
I would say I’m easy-going and social. At the same time, I’m not afraid to voice my ideas and opinions on how we can optimize things. Although having lots of experience in different roles, I’ll always try to keep an open mind to alternative ideas and solutions. I am analytical, eager to learn, and I have a wide range of interests both professionally and privately. For me, the most important thing in my job is to create value for the end user and deliver something that actually helps them in their day-to-day activities.
What makes your day great work wise?
That’s a tough one! Personally, I prefer it when my day is filled with a mixture of human interaction (with colleagues and customers) and working independently. During the pandemic, what I have missed most is the (live) interaction with the people I work with. Finding out what drives the customer and then being able to develop a perfect solution for their issues can be very rewarding! So I am looking forward to having those real-life conversations again.
What do you expect from your new job?
I actually try to not have specific expectations and just go with the flow! I hope to be challenged and I look forward to having to work hard to keep adding value. For the most part, I am very excited to start in a new environment. In the beginning it will take some getting used to because right now I am doing too much on autopilot. After working in HR for so long, it is great to have the opportunity to immerse myself in other industries and companies.
What goals are you aiming for?
At Appsolutely, a lot of attention is paid to obtaining certificates. It is one of my goals to do more of that. In my current job it wasn’t seen as adding too much value to obtain certificates, so I’ll have some catching up to do!
What is your passion? Also outside of work?
I am an avid cyclist. In the summer I am mostly active on my road bike and I try to take my bike into the mountains at least once a year. During the winters I tend to do more mountain biking. I have two children who are 8 and 6 years old, so my family tends to keep me busy with playing games, going on trips, et cetera. Moreover, I am a volunteer in the maintenance of the mountain bike trail near my home. There is enough to do to fill my weekends with!
