Our newest team member, Salesforce consultant Marion Guerard, is originally from Paris and calls Amsterdam home. She went to business school and studied across three continents before beginning her career in customer service and sales, in New York. Since her stint with Salesforce started 2 years ago, she has been adding expertise and skills to her repertoire. Let’s hear from her!
Who are you?
Hi I am Marion Guerard. I was born and raised in Paris and I moved to Amsterdam, in the Netherlands eight years ago.
What did you do prior to this?
I went to business school and studied abroad in Japan, Shanghai and Hong Kong. After a semester in New York, I stayed back and started working in different roles for customer service and sales. I worked mainly on the analytical side of things. I have always been a bit technical. I liked using whatever tools we had, like excel, to make the process simpler for both customers and sales teams. 3 years ago I took a sabbatical. During this time I delved into Salesforce and I have been working as a freelance consultant since then.
Why did you choose Appsolutely?
One of my friends is happily employed with Appsolutely. I also worked with them a few years ago when we shared a client. I was aware of their way of working and always had them in the back of my mind. At some point of time, I felt I was stagnating as a freelancer and missed having colleagues. So I started looking for opportunities with them. I knew it was time to look for a new challenge. Appsolutely is a great place for people who want to advance their career in the software ecosystem.
What challenges and goals do you see for yourself?
A big challenge would be being exposed to different clouds. It will be more technical and pose difficult challenges. So I expect more advanced implementations and problems to solve, than I’ve dealt with before. One of the things I am constantly working on, is improving my coding skills and one of my goals is to get my platform developer certification.
What are your interests, outside of work?
We just bought a house. I think that is going to be our hobby for this year and the immediate future. Apart from that, I do enjoy biking on the road and coding when I have time.
How would you describe yourself?
My friends describe me as bon public – someone who makes for a good audience as I laugh at every joke. I am quite reliable and easy to trust. I know what I know and more importantly I know what I don’t know. That’s my honest and pragmatic side.
What are your expectations from this job?
I am excited to have colleagues again. It is so important to have someone you can relate to at work, which you don’t get to do, as a freelancer. I am looking forward to meeting them, working together, picking their brains and collaborating.
