Luca Gouvea joins Appsolutely as our newest Salesforce Developer. He is from Brazil, currently residing in Portugal and hopes to move to the Netherlands soon. This former chemical engineer brings his unique way of learning and enthusiasm to Appsolutely and looks forward to new challenges. Let’s hear from him!
Who are you?
My name is Luca Gouvea. I am 28 years old and from São Paulo, Brazil. I’ve been living in Portugal for two years and have been working in Salesforce for three. Hopefully I will be moving to the Netherlands soon. My only experience of the Netherlands has been a visit to Amsterdam for a few days.
What did you do, prior to this?
I mainly worked as a Salesforce developer and sometimes also took on the role of a Salesforce administrator sometimes. I started in Sao Paulo and worked for a year and then moved to Portugal. I think every year I have worked with just more companies from even more countries.
What will you be doing at Appsolutely?
I will keep growing as a Salesforce developer. I will help the clients by providing the best solutions for their systems that are scalable and have an easy interface. I hope we will be doing that together as a team.
Why did you choose Appsolutely?
I really like the way Appsolutely approached me. The conversation and interviews that we had were very promising. I have friends who work with them. They are highly experienced and capable people and (I am sure) they receive other opportunities constantly. However, they have chosen to stay with Appsolutely because there is something great about this company and its culture.
What challenges and goals do you see for yourself?
I think my challenge will be dealing with more technical tasks than I am used to or have knowledge about. My educational background is chemical engineering and I got into IT right after college. So all my knowledge has been gained on the job. There are some gaps that I need to address and improve my expertise. My goal is to work as a tech lead or architect in a few years. I just want to ensure that when I do get the opportunity, I am 100% prepared.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like hanging out with my friends and socializing with them. It is my support group, since I have been living away from family. Every week I enjoy playing football and tennis. I really love travelling and this year I am hoping to travel to Northern Europe.
How would you describe yourself?
I am a very direct person. I am calm and organized. I am also a quick learner. One of the most important takeaways from my engineering school days is that I developed my own way to learn and understand something new. Now, when faced with such a challenge I know how to plan, approach and accomplish it.
