Team spirit, a shared vision, and a focus on creating value for end users - these are the three factors our new Practice Lead Luuk Timmermans appreciates most in his working life. Passionate about integrating technology in improvement processes, he is eager to bring the consultancy practice around Salesforce Field Service to a higher level. No surprise, therefore, that the match with Appsolutely was ‘made in heaven’.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Yes! I’m Luuk, I am 40 years old, married to Ceryl and we have two children – a boy (8) and a girl (5). I studied Industrial Engineering and Management Science at the Technical University of Eindhoven, where I specialized in Information Technology and Services. After graduating, I have had managerial and advisory roles in several companies, the last one being Qirion. My background specifically lies in the field of Operations, where I led multiple improvement processes to make operators’ jobs easier and more fun. The last few years, I’ve actively used different kinds of technology to do this, specifically Salesforce Field Service.
How did you encounter Appsolutely?
In my previous job, I became enthusiastic about both the Salesforce platform in general and Salesforce Field Service as a product. I saw, and still see, a lot of potential for this product to grow in the Netherlands and Europe as a whole. After several conversations with Floor and Jaap, it became clear that we share this vision. Moreover, I was looking for a company with a flat organizational structure, with room for initiative and entrepreneurship. The Appsolutely team consists of talented and ambitious people so I’m eager to start working together and am sure I’ll find many like-minded colleagues here!
How would you define yourself personality wise?
I’d say I’m an enthusiastic and driven person. I am honest and direct in my communication and I love to work together with others. When it comes to my career specifically, I’m very results-oriented. The thing that moves me is creating value for the end user, the people in the field or factory. They are always in the back of my mind, because what they do is essential to the business. I want to find out which problems they encounter and how we can solve them. In my opinion, you can only start delivering value to a customer and improve company results once you involve the end user.
I think I can guess the answer, but what makes your day great work wise?
I have read a few ‘Meet’ blogs so I know the questions by heart! But indeed, my day is great when I’ve had fun with my colleagues while getting results out of our hands.
How will you contribute to Appsolutely?
I mentioned this a little bit already, but I think it can be a challenge for customers to consider things from the perspective of the end user, instead of from a management perspective. Appsolutely brought in some people, including myself, who have experience in operations and thus understand what the customer needs. I hope to contribute to this by being honest towards customers and not just tell them pretty stories. Furthermore, I am eager to take the consulting practice around Salesforce Field Service to the next level, and to ensure Appsolutely is a reliable and knowledgeable implementation partner.
What will be a challenge?
Because I’m so focused on achieving a result, I have to be mindful that I don’t forget to enjoy the way there. It can be a challenge for me to stop and appreciate the small steps in the process. The cooperation with colleagues, for example, is something I value a lot. I'm sure working at Appsolutely is going to be a lot of fun, and that is also something to be aware of and celebrate!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My family is definitely the most important thing to me. After that, I enjoy doing sports a lot. I am a fanatic and avid cyclist! I love cycling in every way - mountain biking, racing, cycling through the forest, et cetera. Like in my job, I am also very results-oriented during races. But I enjoy training and being outdoors just as much. Next to cycling, I give soccer practice to my son’s soccer team, and recently I've been fixing a lot of things in the house. We are currently renovating our attic to make room for two study rooms, as both me and my wife are working from home.
